IPSIS owner and managing director Artur Ullmann has declared nothing less than “the transformation of the graphic arts industry through technological innovation” to be his company's vision. A goal in which HEIDELBERG is an indispensable partner.
"Transforming ideas into impressive images”; this is the mission that the family-run publishing house IPSIS Gráfica e Editora has been creating together with its customers on a daily basis - for 78 years, now in its 4th generation. The company offers high-quality books and commercial work, including on specialty paper. Production is carried out by 400 employees on over 10,000 m2 of production space in Sao Paulo - for customers from all over South America.
Before the recent investment in a new Stahlfolder TH 82 from HEIDELBERG, IPSIS was experiencing high makeready times in the folding area: The large proportion of unproductive non-productive time and makeready waste put a noticeable strain on the cost center. Once the folding machine had been set up, the process stability was not always convincing and the folding process was often unstable, resulting in a high level of downtime.
At the end of 2022, Managing Director Artur Ullmann therefore decided to invest in a manual Stahlfolder TH 82 with a round pile feeder, two folding stations and an SBP 66 vertical sheet delivery. He was already familiar with the quality of the machine construction from his other folding machines: All Stahlfolder, including the automated Stahlfolder KH 82. “For anyone who produces end products as high-quality as we do, precise and high-quality technology is an important building block for success,” says Ullmann.
And this time, too, he is very happy with the decision to opt for the HEIDELBERG solution, which has now been in operation for over a year: “The new Stahlfolder TH 82 has exceeded our expectations. Set-up is much easier and therefore faster." And once set-up is complete, the company can rely on a stable folding process until the job is finished. “Overall, we have around 30% less waste on this folding machine,” Ullmann sums up with satisfaction.
Because the satisfaction is so great and the order situation is good, the next folding machine investment is already planned. Once again it will be a folding machine from HEIDELBERG - this time perhaps with automation. Perhaps even the first Stahlfolder TH 82-P in Brazil? “We'll see,” answers Ullmann with a friendly wink.
