Based in Dąbrowa near Poznań, Poland, Preston Packaging specializes in solid board packages, information leaflets and product manuals for the pharmaceutical sector, the cosmetics industry, and producers of dietary supplements. The print shop is continuously working on expanding its product portfolio and searching for new niches and markets. Another important aspect of the company’s growth strategy is the continuous improvement of production reliability, process automation, and quality standards.
In October 2019, a contract was signed for the supply of a seven-color Speedmaster XL 106 -7 + LYYL press equipped with a dual-coating and a double intermediate drying system, designed to work with both UV and conventional jobs. The owners of the print shop are confident that the new Speedmaster press will fully meet their expectations.
Brothers Filip, Jacek, and Stanisław Karoński founded what later became Preston Packaging in 1999. Initially, the company specialized in the organization of events and advertising. "The beginnings were modest. The first equipment we bought was a folding machine; then came a one-color B3 offset printing press. The construction of the company’s headquarters in 2013 and our investment in a Speedmaster CD 74-5 + L-F and a Speedmaster SM 74-2-P-H were a big step," says Stanisław Karoński, vice-president at Preston Packaging.
Today, thanks to relentless discipline, consistency in operation, and a strong strategic focus and positioning, Preston Packaging boasts a modern plant, a qualified crew, and a loyal customer-base both domestic and foreign.
“We are happy to have acquired another Heidelberg press. We trust this brand. We hope that this new, technologically more advanced press will give a boost to our company’s development. We want to be faster, offer even better quality and expand the company's offering with new products,” emphasizes Stanisław Karoński.
Preston Packaging’s product portfolio includes: linear glued folding cartons, automatic bottom packaging, pharmaceutical packaging with Braille embossing, sachets and blister jackets, small-size solid board displays, boxes for unit packages, holders for syringes, vials, sachets, ampoules and other products requiring specific protection.
The print shop also offers its customers the possibility of developing and producing other types of packages with an unusual forms (glued or not) to meet their specific requirements and help them differentiate themselves from their competitors.
Also unique on the market today: Preston Packaging offers the pharmaceutical industry a comprehensive service for unit package production including packaging, storage and serialization in close cooperation with Prespack.
The Speedmaster XL 106 -7 + LYYL UV press is configured to work with both conventional and UV inks and coatings. It allows you to work at maximum speed up to 18,000 sph. The maximum sheet format is 106 x 75 cm. Both the superior press productivity and the possibility of using a larger sheet format were important for Preston Packaging.
The press is equipped with a Prinect Press Center XL 2 control station including a Wallscreen XL screen and the unique Intellistart 2 software for jobs change management, which significantly improves machine use efficiency and makeready times. With this set-up, the press can function in autonomous printing mode Push-to-Stop.
Also included in the list of features and options are: Prinect Inpress Control , the state-of-the-arts spectrophotometric inline control system for CMYK and special colors and register control; a Color Fast Solution module designed to reduce paper waste and control ink-water balance; a Preset Plus feeder ensuring stable operation at the highest speeds regardless of the surface, and much more. The machine is covered by a two-year SystemService 24 Plus service package.
The owners of Preston Packaging are committed to providing their customers with the highest level of service. This is reflected in the number of certifications the company has acquired over the years, such as ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015 and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
"The protection of the environment has always been of paramount importance to us, both as a company and as individuals,” says Filip Karoński, president at Preston. “We consider it a matter of corporate social responsibility. We are confident the new press will help us uphold our ecological commitment and can hardly wait for it to be installed and in production. It will be another milestone in the development of Preston Packaging and will definitely mobilize us to continue our expansion”.
