From prototype to market-ready solution.

An electrolyzer splits water into hydrogen (H₂) and oxygen (O₂) by means of electrolysis. The 200 kW prototype is based on proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) and was deliberately developed for the smaller plant segment. It serves as proof of the technological expertise of HEIDELBERG.

In a next development stage, the prototype can be used as the basis for scalable multi-megawatt electrolyser systems - with the HEIDELBERG quality promise consisting of reliability, durability and first-class service.

The hydrogen market is booming.

Global demand for green hydrogen is growing rapidly – and with it, the need for powerful electrolysers. PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolysers play a key role. Their compact design, high efficiency, fast response times and flexible operation are what make them so attractive. By efficiently converting excess wind and solar power into hydrogen, PEM electrolysers can support the further expansion of renewable energies by contributing to grid stability and making electricity generated from renewable sources economically viable.
