Label printing.

Applications.

A successful label gets itself noticed, which is why the use of new, innovative materials is becoming increasingly important.

Nowadays, printing applications cover everything from conventional self-adhesive labels to the latest monofoils and composite materials. In addition to various mainstream printing methods, a number of different finishing processes such as screen printing, hot/cold foil embossing, and relief embossing are also used.

Flexible and scalable production resources and sound know-how are required to handle the many different materials and master a huge range of printing and finishing processes.

 Self adhesive labels

Self adhesive

If someone refers to a label, they often mean a self-adhesive label. This technology arrived on the market in the 1940s and is now regarded as a classic product decoration with countless combinations of substrate and label materials. Together with the wet glue label, the self-adhesive label is the most common form of product decoration.

Thanks to their simple application and outstanding material properties, self-adhesive labels are ideal for all kinds of product decoration.

Presses from Gallus satisfy every need when it comes to flexible and efficient processing of self-adhesive materials.

Monofoil

The label family has grown a great deal since the end of the 1990s. The new arrivals include wraparound, roll-on-shrink-on, inmould, shrink-sleeve, and stretch-sleeve labels – in other words, monofoil labels.

These labels are popular for items such as beverages because they provide a large area for advertising and information in relation to the size of the product container. They are mostly made from very thin and flexible substrates, some with specific thermal properties.

Gallus presses are ideal for monofoil applications, not least thanks to an intelligent web transport concept that caters to the specific substrate properties (elongation, snap-back, thickness, and surface).

 Wet glue labels

Wet glue

Conventional wet glue labels are still particularly dominant in markets with high order volumes such as mineral water, beer, wine, and spirits. The level of embellishment is increasing, especially in the wine and spirits segments.

The Gallus press concept is also ideal for producing highly embellished wet glue labels. Printing, finishing, coating, and die-cutting take place in a single (inline) pass, thus saving time and money.

Laminates

Laminates, or composite materials as they are also known, are used in applications with both functional and decorative requirements. In many cases, the materials used are aluminized plastics or plastic composites such as tubular laminates and bags.

Something all laminates have in common are high material costs. This makes reducing waste a key issue.

Gallus presses minimize waste thanks to their ergonomic design, intelligent presetting concepts, dynamic process parameters, and efficient register control.
