For more than three decades, commercial printer Perfekt S.A. has been a key player in the book production industry in Poland. As Arkadiusz Zieja, Production Director at Perfekt S.A., explains:
“At Perfekt SA, we’ve been producing books for many years, especially hardcover books. This is the core of our production and business, but we also produce brochures, catalogs, and flyers for our customers.”
Operating in both the Polish and Western European markets, the company collaborates with leading Polish publishers. As Arkadiusz says,
“We cooperate with prominent Polish publishers such as Zielona Sowa, Marginesy, Znak, and Agora.” When describing current market dynamics, he adds: “I can’t say whether our production is a true reflection of the publishing market today, but in any case, most of the books we produce in our print shop are for children.”
At the same time, Perfekt S.A. is seeing strong interest in other genres: “We’re also seeing strong demand for lifestyle titles, such as travel, reportage, art, and culinary books.” Their work has even reached international acclaim — “Some of the books we’ve produced have even made it onto the New York Times bestseller list.”
Despite a stable readership market, printed books continue to generate enthusiasm. “At Perfekt S.A., as a specialist of book publishing, we are seeing stabilization rather than growth in readership, although there is a certain positive energy around printed books.” This growing appreciation is reflected in production trends. “Today, most of our production incorporates high‑quality embellishments. These include gilding, embossing, edge coloring, and various types of varnishes and glitter.”
Perfekt S.A.’s long-standing experience goes hand in hand with a partnership just as enduring. “We have been present on the market for over 35 years, and you could say we have known HEIDELBERG for ages. We’ve been partners for over 30 years.”
Different HEIDELBERG technologies have supported Perfekt S.A. across multiple stages of production. “At first, we focused mostly on their printing machines, and later, on their solutions for bookbinding. After that, we expanded our cooperation to include prepress, and we are now extending it again to include Saphira consumables.”
At this point, Jarek Krasnodębski, Head of Consumables at HEIDELBERG Poland, explains the breadth and philosophy behind the Saphira brand: “Saphira is HEIDELBERG’s own consumables brand. It stands for carefully selected, high‑quality consumables, that have been tested in terms of quality.” Saphira includes a wide range of products for both prepress and printing. Everything a print shop needs for printing can be found under the Saphira brand.
“Each of these products has been tested at our Headquarters in Wiesloch so that our R&D engineers can verify whether they meet the quality level required to carry our brand label.” This approach shapes the Saphira philosophy: “That’s why the Saphira brand slogan is ‘More than just consumables.’ And that is indeed the case. Because we think about more than just quality: we want to ensure the right balance between quality and price, and also fast delivery.”
To guarantee this availability, HEIDELBERG maintains strong logistics: “We have well-stocked logistic centers for our Saphira consumables so you can order the consumables you need for your production any time.” Jarek summarizes the vision clearly: “Saphira is more than just consumables. This is the HEIDELBERG way of thinking: a holistic approach focused on delivering smooth, secure production processes for your business.”
Perfekt S.A. uses these solutions every day. Arkadiusz shares: “HEIDELBERG is a supplier of several consumables that we use on a daily basis. For many years, we mostly focused on their Saphira offset plates, but over the past year, we have expanded our cooperation to include inks, varnishes, fountain solutions and other consumables.”
Ordering is fully digital: “Of course, we use the HEIDELBERG eShop to order Saphira consumables.”
And this partnership is strategic: “I am convinced that this is the optimal solution for us today.”
Perfekt S.A. began automating its workflow with HEIDELBERG solutions years ago. “We began our automation journey with the Nela system, which HEIDELBERG supplied to us together with their Suprasetter CtP device.”
Since then, many more solutions have been added: “We have implemented several additional automation solutions, such as the StackStar P and the StackStar C Robotic Arm.”
These improvements have a clear goal: “These are solutions that support our employees on a daily basis by relieving them of physical labor.”
For Arkadiusz, the partnership between his print shop and HEIDELBERG goes beyond technology: “For me, HEIDELBERG is above all about the people behind these modern solutions, and sometimes about closer relationships and shared passions.”
