The Page Bros Group, based in Norwich, UK, is a printing and fulfillment company serving publishing and commercial companies in the UK and beyond. The company offers a wide range of premedia, printing, and fulfillment services, including direct mail, security printing, and accessible formats. Page Bros has set the course for further growth and has launched a three-year investment program worth seven million pounds (approx. eight million euros). A significant portion of this will be invested in renewing the company's machinery. The company has now invested in a Speedmaster XL 106-5+L from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG), which replaces an older Speedmaster CX 102.

The efficiency of the Speedmaster XL 106 with Prinect integration enables faster and more reliable delivery times, consistently high-quality results, and greater production flexibility. As it consumes less energy and produces less waste, it also supports the sustainability goals of Page Bros and its customers. The company also uses a Stahlfolder TH 82-P, which supports the new printing press in post-press with its high productivity.

“With the installation of the new Speedmaster XL 106, HEIDELBERG is giving Page Bros' production workflow a significant boost in automation and once again demonstrating its expertise as a system integrator. This enables our customers to continue growing profitably and increase their competitiveness,” says Dr. David Schmedding, Chief Technology and Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG.

"The Speedmaster XL 106 offers us maximum speed, flexibility, and quality, enabling us to take on larger, more complex projects and deliver them faster and more sustainably than before. This investment is not only about meeting the needs of our customers today, but also about anticipating the demands of tomorrow and giving us a competitive edge," says Page Bros CEO Alex Tuya.

The Speedmaster XL 106 from the Peak Performance Generation, which HEIDELBERG unveiled at drupa 2024, reduces environmental impact, maximizes productivity, and ensures consistently high quality. The proven XL platform is known worldwide for its reliability, automation, and functionality. Supported by HEIDELBERG's strong service network, it offers outstanding added value and fits perfectly with Page Bros.' requirements and strategy.

Peak Performance Generation of the Speedmaster XL 106 – more automation, efficiency, and sustainability, less waste

The automation of the Speedmaster XL 106 can reduce makeready times by up to 40 percent, while inline control systems minimize waste at the start of a job. In practice, this means significant increases in efficiency and production: more output per shift, higher order volumes with faster turnaround times. Color management has also been optimized, ensuring consistency for long-term and repeat orders.

"Our operators will benefit from modern automation and user-friendly control systems," says Spencer Armes, Chief Operating Officer at Page Bros, "making their work more efficient and less physically demanding. For our customers, this investment represents our commitment to quality, reliability, and service, as well as the assurance of having a printing partner who is ready to grow with them."

"This investment will help future-proof our operations and remain agile and competitive in a dynamic and ever-evolving market," Tuya concludes.
