Operators of public charging stations, fleet managers and facility managers have a common need: smooth and secure billing, whether for spontaneous public charging sessions, automatic reimbursement of charging costs for company cars at the home wallbox or for employee charging sessions at the workplace. Amperfied GmbH, a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG), is addressing this need and making the payment processing of charging processes for companies and at public charge points smoother and more secure. To this end, Amperfied is cooperating with Fiserv, a global leader in payments and financial technology, which offers payment processing services under the TeleCash brand. Secondly, Amperfied is introducing dynamic QR codes for tamper-proof ad-hoc payments at its AC charging station connect.public.

"With our partnership with TeleCash, we offer companies a seamless payment solution that simplifies billing processes and increases the cost-effectiveness of the charging infrastructure. Our aim is to ensure that charging processes can be billed quickly, securely and fully automatically everywhere. This cooperation strengthens our offering for charging at the workplace and in public spaces and solidifies our role as a system provider," says Davide Ghione, CEO of Amperfied GmbH. "With our dynamic QR codes, we want to increase charging security and and tackle the increasing number of cases of fraud in public spaces."

Seamless billing for ad hoc, home and employee charging

TeleCash can now be used as a payment service provider at charge points that comply with calibration law and are managed via the Amperfied backend. Amperfied thus offers customers of its backend a solution for automated payment and billing processes. Areas of application include ad-hoc payment via a QR code at a public charging station, the reimbursement of charging sessions by company car drivers at their home wallbox and the billing of employees with private EVs at the company site. TeleCash acts as an interface between the backend system used to manage the charge points and the customers' cashless means of payment (e.g, Visa or Mastercard), similar to payments in online shops. TeleCash from Fiserv has been offering professional solutions for cashless payments with credit and debit cards for over three decades and today has more than 100,000 customers.

Dynamic QR codes for added security

The new dynamic QR codes from Amperfied are independent of the selected payment service provider and enable ad-hoc payments at the AC charging station Amperfied connect.public without the need for a charge card from the respective provider. After scanning the QR code, the customer is taken to a payment page of the provider where they enter their payment details, e.g, those of their credit card. While currently static QR codes, which are attached as stickers, are often used, Amperfied's dynamic QR codes offer significantly greater protection against tampering. In what is known as "quishing", fraudsters paste over the QR code stickers on charging stations to redirect users to fake websites where their credit card details are then stolen. Unlike QR code stickers, which have to be regularly checked for tampering and replaced due to weathering or vandalism, dynamic QR codes from Amperfied are quishing-proof, weather-resistant and low-maintenance. Dynamically positioned QR codes also exceed the standards of the European Union's important Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR). Of course, the dynamic QR code can also be used with TeleCash payments.

Building blocks of an integrated system solution

Amperfied offers solutions for the current challenges of e-mobility from both the operator and user perspective. For operators, Amperfied is developing into an end-to-end provider that takes on all tasks relating to the charging infrastructure - from payment processing via TeleCash to administration via a cloud backend and a flexible rental model. This model enables companies to rent charging infrastructure, including installation and maintenance, for a fixed monthly fee and thus avoid high initial investments. At the same time, Amperfied is continuously working on making the charging experience safer and more convenient for users, for example using dynamic QR codes.

Electrification can only progress successfully through cost-efficient implementation, simple monetisation and use that is as convenient as refueling.
