Heidelberg focuses on the commercial realities of Low Energy UV

15/10/2014

A head to head between two Speedmaster B2 presses, one running LE-UV and the other conventional, will be the centrepiece of the Heidelberg Hei Tech Challenge Open House which takes place at the national showroom in Brentford on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 November 2014.

There are only 50 places for each of the four Hei Tech Challenge tours and so printers are advised to be quick to pre-register – go to the or http://www.heievents.co.uk/event.php?e=2

Two B2 Speedmaster presses, the SX 74 LE-UV and the XL 75, will perform side by side on jobs using different stocks so that the colour and quality results can be compared objectively. Heidelberg will reveal the process and maintenance considerations and the real life cost comparisons between the two processes.

The tour will also take in the BH and TH 56 folders to see how speedily sections from each press can be processed and it will finish in the Prinect Room with an analysis of total operational costs.

“We sell both options so have no axe to grind. We want our customers to know which route is right for their specific business model, what will be right for their market and enable them to run profitably,” says Jim Todd, sales director.

Mr Todd and Matt Rockley, press product specialist, have co-authored a White Paper to provide a fact-packed technical and business guide to LE UV and LED UV. This will be available to visitors to the showroom.

Two other presentations offered (without pre-booking) are:

Thinking outside the box (co-presented with Tharstern): A look at ways to add value to a traditional print business, including the benefits and pitfalls of a commercial printer going into packaging.

Heidelberg Colour Club (co-presented with X-Rite): This year a new version of the ISO 12647-2 colour standard will come into effect. Printers need to know about the new targets, measuring conditions and latest tools available to help. Heidelberg will reveal new Analyze Point colour reports and the Multicolour solution.

Other experts will be on hand to discuss and demonstrate:

• high performance training to maximise Speedmaster XL potential

• the new Stahlfolder TH 56 for both commercial and pharmaceutical work

• contracts and support packages and consumables

Partner companies who will also be available to visitors on the day include: Sappi; Polar; Winter & Co; Tharstern; IST; ALT; Print Finance; Gallus; and X Rite.

The Open Houses will run from 9am to 5pm (4pm on Thursday) with a buffet style lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
