Zenith adds smaller Stahlfolder to complement productive P series technology

22/11/2018

Zenith Media is adding a Stahlfolder BH66 to supplement its two very successful Stahlfolder TH82-P high productivity folders. Taking this new folder means it can divert smaller format work away from the P machines, leaving them to handle the high volume section work.

“The P series doubled the output of our previous generation machines and this enabled us to restructure our folding department and improve the workflow and productivity,” says John Mooney, managing director of the parent Zenith Group. “It meant we could operate with fewer machines and much higher productivity but we need to BH 66 to complement that, taking on the smaller format commercial work.”

The BH 66 is replacing an MBO machine at the Pontypool plant but it has kept on a Stahfolder KH82, its only combination folder in a primarily buckle folding department.

The Zenith Print Group has invested heavily this year on the commercial and packaging side of the business. Earlier this year it added its first long perfector, a B1 Speedmaster XL 106-8-P Push to Stop press. This month it is taking delivery of a hybrid (UV and conventional inks) Speedmaster XL 106-5+LX3, a B1 five-colour with coater. It also added its third Masterwork machine and second Promatrix model, a Promatrix 106FC (foiling and cutting) machine and the first Promatrix foiling machine in the UK.

The Zenith Print Group includes Zenith Media, C3 Imaging and Zenith Print & Packaging.
