Business Print to take first Speedmaster CX75 in Ireland

11/04/2018

The first Speedmaster CX75 in Ireland, a five-colour and coater machine, will be delivered to Business Print in Dublin next month. The newly launched mid-range B2 press will open up new opportunities in a number of markets for the company which is already well established as a highly customer focused supplier of design, print, direct mail and fulfilment services.

Kieran Finegan, one of the four company directors, visited the Heidelberg Open House in Brentford and said: “This is the right press for us because it will handle substrates from 80gsm to 0.6mm board with minimum changeover and that flexibility is critical. Its rolling power, combined with the EasyControl spectral device, will ensure we can easily and efficiently produce top quality, consistent colour at speed and access the data to prove it. This will be our first press with such low makeready times and high speeds plus a coater which means our customers will enjoy even faster turnaround times and a variety of surface coating options.

Paul O’Rourke (who with father Larry and brother John completes the director line up) adds: “This press replaces a Sakurai SRA2 and a Ryobi B3 press and it was chosen only after a lengthy and extensive review of what was available. The fifth unit will allow us to run special colours for brands and it is a press that allows us to do a two for one swap out. It was the right price-performance choice.”

The smaller footprint of the Speedmaster CX 75 suits the company, which operates from a 12,500 sq ft factory and it has the flexibility and firepower to serve its customers well. The company already holds ISO9001 Quality Certification and is planning to achieve ISO27001 data/security certification in the near future.

Business Print is also implementing a Prinect Pressroom Manager workflow and is converting to Heidelberg’s Saphira pressroom consumables, which have been extensively tested on the press. This package means it knows it has the production control and stability that it needs. The company already runs two Polar guillotines and two Stahlfolders and enjoys a good working relationship with Heidelberg.

“The Heidelberg reputation, and pitch, was convincing,” says Mr Finegan. “I have been in print for 39 years and Heidelberg has never let me down. I began my career on a Heidelberg and am really pleased to have the latest generation press. Our operators are delighted and see it as a very positive and productive move forward in their careers. “

The family-run business was started in 1989 and continues to be ambitious. In the last five years the company has virtually doubled its staff numbers which now stand at 24. It handles work for a wide range of customers including blue chip companies, banks and design agencies.

The Speedmaster CX 75 features double diameter impression cylinders and elliptical transfer cyclinders.
