Penstripe buys a Stahlfolder KH 82

11/04/2017

Penstripe has returned to Heidelberg for a Stahlfolder KH 82, a combination folder that will be used for a wide range of educational and business products including planners, notebooks and diaries.

Charles Hewines, head of procurement at the Leeds operation, says: “We had two folders, a KH 82 and a KD 78, and have upgraded with the KH 82. There are slight mechanical modifications and some software updates on the new KH 82 but the operators have found it easy to adapt to and it is working very well at this early stage.”

Penstripe looked at alternative folders but had confidence in Heidelberg and the reliability of the machine. With the previous folders, the company had had a Heidelberg service contract and found that great in terms of getting help desk or engineer assistance fast and having predictable costs. The new folder is under warranty so renewing that will be a decision for the future.

“We are very hot on housekeeping here at Penstripe. We work on a very clean basis and our machines always look like they are straight out of a showroom because we are very disciplined about maintenance. It keeps equipment working to its optimum,” says Mr Hewines.

The folder, which will run on a flexible day shift basis, operates at up to 50,000 cycles an hour and can handle sheets up to 820 x 1280mm.
