Bristol printer Doveton Press will take delivery of two new Heidelberg digital presses, a Linoprint CP and a Linoprint CV, at the turn of the year.
The company has already installed a Speedmaster XL 75-4 with Inpress Control this year, a machine that joint managing director Mark Savage describes as “a beast, an animal”. He says that in one 24 hour period it can output 30 jobs of various run lengths (but averaging about 2,000) and all at top quality.
“Inpress Control is absolutely game-changing. The quality is sharp, the productivity phenomenal,” says Mark Savage.
His brother and the other joint MD Gavin Savage has steered the investment in new digital technology, undertaking one of about 60 bespoke Linoprint demonstrations handled by Heidelberg UK in the last six months in addition to the open houses.
Doveton Press is replacing older Linoprint C901 and C751 technology with the new generation CP (commercial performance) and CV (commercial value) models.
“Six page A4 work we are having to produce on the Speedmasters will soon run on the digital presses and it also will allow us to handle spot gloss and white work and to personalise more than we could before,” says Gavin Savage.
“It amazes me how litho and digital technology continues to develop. Each technology seems to spur the other on. Just as with the Anicolors, and latterly with the XL 75 and Inpress Control, we have won work, we believe the latest generation Linoprint presses will secure us new orders and enable us to offer more products to existing clients. We have enjoyed another busy year and anticipate a similar split in sales of 60-40% between litho and digital sales as we move into 2016.”
The company has been in business for over 40 years and offers a design, print, personalisation, finishing and delivery service to a UK wide customer base. It operates around the clock.
