Pinstripe beefs up its digital, CtP and colour capabilities

30/09/2015

The Pinstripe Print Group has just completed another tranche of investment which has included a Suprasetter 75 CtP device and Linoprint CV press coupled with completion of its switch to all Heidelberg pressroom consumables with the decision to run the Saphira Eco Chem Free 101 plate.

In addition the Birmingham company, which is proud to hold the ISO 12647-2 certification through the BPIF’s Colour Quality Management Scheme, is undertaking Heidelberg’s ISO 12647-2 certification as well.

“To become part of the Heidelberg Colour Club will be another great achievement and will reiterate our commitment to quality. It also gives us a great opportunity to engage with the colour team at Heidelberg which we always find hugely beneficial,” says Paul Stone, operations director.

Prepress and press optimisation and testing took place last week with sample sheets from a run of 4,000 submitted to Germany for testing and validation.

The company turned to Heidelberg for a Suprasetter to replace an older Agfa model. The company has reorganised and it likes the fact this CtP device can be easily moved and that it is reliable as well as having good speed, quality, flexibility and environmental credentials. The system will run about 2,000 Saphira Chem-free 101 plates a month.

Digital printing already accounts for 20% of Pinstripe’s turnover and this time round the company has elected to replace a Konica Minolta machine with the Linoprint CV.

“We went out to market and looked at several devices. We were very impressed with the quality of the Linoprint. Having existing digital relationships meant that there were several prerequisites that a digital press needed to deliver and the Linoprint met those needs and gave us additional features which we hope will extend the digital services we offer,” says Mr Stone.

The Linoprint CV features a fifth colour which allows users to print white or clear (and it is possible to swap between the two in about 10 or 15 minutes). The machine can run a wide range of stocks from 52 to 360gsm and with the banner feeder can produce six A4 page work.

The 16 year old Birmingham company provides quality colour printing and marketing services. It is a company which puts an emphasis on good business practices (it holds a long list of environmental and quality credentials) and on working closely with its customers to find optimum added value solutions.
