Target says Linoprint CV will open up new markets

01/06/2015

As part of an ongoing reinvestment, Target Print is replacing a Xerox 700 with a Linoprint CV digital press and a Wohlenberg with a Polar guillotine. Both machines will be delivered to the company in Cottenham near Cambridge in the next few weeks.

“The Linoprint replaces the Xerox which marked our debut in digital print five years ago,” says director Neil Shaw. “We have been reviewing digital technology for a couple of years, having decided we would only invest in a machine that offered us something extra.

“The Linoprint CV will handle a much wider range of stocks, including duplex on heavier grammages, and the banner feeder will open up a new market to us alongside the short run jobs we currently run. We bought our first Heidelberg press in 1982 and having had a relationship with Heidelberg for over 30 years we feel confidence in their continued support for this new installation.”

Target Print’s Linoprint CV is an 80ppm press and with the 700mm banner attachment it will be able to produce landscape A4 products.

Staff will receive training when the press is delivered on 22 June and there is a sense of excitement and anticipation as they prepare for the new technology. The company estimates that the split between litho and digital is about 60-40% in turnover terms and about even in terms of the number of jobs handled.

The Linoprint CV will run alongside the company’s existing Speedmaster SM 52.

The Polar N 78 ECO guillotine will run across both litho and digital work. The company likes the robustness and reputation of the Polar and the fact that the backgauge is driven from the middle rather than the side of the cutting bed.

Target Print handles a broad range of commercial work, most of it from the Cambridge region but with some clients in London and around the UK. The company employs eight staff at two locations.
