What is Deinking?

For any printed paper to be recycled, deinking has to be performed to improve the final colour and overall quality of the recycled paper. The deinking process is the ability to completely remove unrecyclable printer ink from the paper fibres, an important process to maintain the quality of paper. Which means that, when it comes to supporting sustainability through paper recycling, deinking is extremely valuable since the removal of printing ink is the key to the recyclability of paper.

Versafire Deinking

In order to achieve the deinking, printers would need to pass the deinkability test. All Which our Versafire printers passed the test with flying colours, with a score of 100 out of 100 achievable points. The sample was tested on three different paper grammages and the same result was achieved for all three samples. Previous tests with prints on uncoated paper achieved similar results.

By passing the test, our Versafire printers gained the deinking certification from INGEDE (International Association of the Deinking Industry), meaning the Versafire digital printer meets all the requirements needed for the deinking process.

We're proud to say that at Heidelberg, we prioritise sustainability and conservation in our efforts. This certification is just one more step taken by Heidelberg to help businesses meet and surpass industry sustainability standards!
