Boosting volume & flexibility: The Meliora Group invests in the Diana Easy folder-gluer from HEIDELBERG

03/08/2023

The Meliora Group of print companies have recently invested in a Diana Easy folder-gluer from HEIDELBERG which has been installed and is already operational at their printed packaging business, Delga Press.

This new unit will act as an addition to their current machinery. They had always planned on investing in this area, and since their workloads increased significantly in 2022, they felt the need to add to their capacity.

In the recent past, the Meliora Group have made a number of investments across the group and when all these elements are combined, they are able to present an offering that’s quite unique to the UK printed packaging market.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Heidelberg when purchasing equipment. We chose the Diana in particular as it has the ability to produce smaller cartons than our existing equipment. The level of support and training we know we can expect from HEIDELBERG also factored into the decision. Diana has always had a very good reputation in the industry; so after looking at all the options available to us, we decided that this was the best suited to our business needs,” says Sam Grist, Commercial Director at Delga Press. “As always, our staff are excited about a new investment! Operators love to run new machinery. Investing in machinery also shows our intent and commitment to progress, and I think the staff appreciate that.”

Delga Press will now have four dedicated glue lines for folding box board cartons, meaning they can leave certain lines set up in popular formats. With this, the company expects to increase makeready speeds coupled with the ability to reduce the number of makereadies. The new machine with the updated glue system, will help bring benefits in speed of running and better control.

As size restrictions for packaging will reduce, Delga will also be able to increase their offering. Their customers will benefit from the increased capacity, and the associated improvement in service, speed and flexibility. They have always been known as a supplier who bases their business on service, efficiency, and flexibility, and this will only serve to reinforce that.

The Diana Easy offers very fast and comfortable changeover processes, and an operator-friendly design across the entire machine usage. With speeds of up to 300 m/min, the Diana Easy is perfectly equipped for a wide range of applications. The machine is available in the format range of 85 cm and 115 cm (33.46 and 45.28 in) and therefore can easily handle products with a maximum product length of 600 mm. Cartons of 200-600 g/m² and above, and E-flutes of corrugated material, can also be easily processed.

The Meliora Group is a group of printing businesses, headquartered in Rochester, Kent. The group comprises five trading brands: Delga Press, Delga Labels, CSP, Scarbutts Printers and Boxable. These are located over two sites, Rochester and Aylesford, both in Kent. The Group offers Packaging, Label, and Commercial Print Solutions across multiple market segments such as Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, Boutique Industries, Retail, Automotive, Trade and Logistics.
