At a dinner at Stationers’ Hall last week Heidelberg UK was presented with a facsimile copy of the Stationers’ Company Charter, signed by Charles II, to mark its 15 years as a Corporate Member of the Livery.

The presentation was made to current managing director Gerard Heanue but he was accompanied by George Clarke (MD when Heidelberg became the first corporate member in 2004) and Ryan Miles, who succeeds Gerard as MD on 1 April.

“The Stationers’ Company is a standout Livery in that it continues with its original purpose of ensuring that the trades it represents maintain knowledge, encourage education and support others in need,” says Gerard Heanue. “That it continues to give service to our industries provides real added value.

“Stationers cover a whole chain of activities from digital design through to printing and packaging, a combination which is not represented by a single body in any other organisation. Heidelberg has held many events at the Hall but representatives of the business also attend key forums, discussions and debates and that helps us better understand some of the business, technical and wider socio-economic issues of the day and to hear different perspectives. Heidelberg has also submitted entries to the annual Innovation Awards and was a winner with its digital technology two years ago.”

At the dinner last week, all but three of the current 16 corporate member companies were in attendance and Liveryman Sir Tony Baldry spoke on Brexit and its impact on the communications and content industry, notably in terms of VAT and copyright.

Companies in the communications and content industry who would like to know more about becoming a Corporate Member, including the benefits and cost, should contact William Alden (clerk@stationers.org).
