Employee Spotlight.

Head of Finance and Administration Management.

Phillip, what is your role at HEIDELBERG?

My role at HEIDELBERG is Head of Finance and Administration Management for the UK and for Ireland. I am responsible for maintaining and managing the company's financial figures which are reported to the group on a monthly basis. I am also the first point of call for our auditors. On a day-to-day basis, I authorise payments through the bank, maintain the company pension scheme and ensure all taxation requirements are met with Governing Bodies.

Before working at HEIDELBERG, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

While at University, I worked as part of a security team at various sports arenas including Twickenham Stadium and the Oval Cricket Ground. I often had to respond to pitch invaders – and there would be thousands of people watching your every move!

How did you first learn about HEIDELBERG?

I live near the old HEIDELBERG Office in Brentford so I knew of HEIDELBERG as a major employer in the community before joining. It so happened I was put forward for a role HEIDELBERG by my recruiter.

What do you like most about HEIDELBERG?

Right from the beginning when I was interviewing with HEIDELBERG, I got a really good feeling about the people and the organisation culture. Since day one, everyone at the company has made me feel very welcome. As a person, I've always been willing to help, which I feel has enabled me to fit in quite quickly.

What has been your biggest challenge at HEIDELBERG to date?

HEIDELBERG is my first experience of working as a finance professional in an industrial setting – I have previously worked in accountancy practice. It's a transferable skill set, as I have worked in audited companies similar to HEIDELBERG. However, getting used to working in an industrial finance team has been challenging and rewarding.

Favourite Sporting moment?

Being an avid England Rugby supporter, my favourite sporting moment has to be Jonny Wilkinson scoring the winning drop goal at the Rugby World Cup in 2003. This makes up for being a trophyless Tottenham Hotspur fan!
