Speedmaster XL 106-8+L. General Converting, packaging printing specialist, finds that presses from Heidelberg deliver on their promises.

The first press that actually delivers what it promises

“In 37 years, I’ve seen nothing comparable to the Speedmaster XL 106 – it’s a real revelation, as it’s the first press that really does exactly what the manufacturer promises.” Mike Harper, pressroom manager at GCI, is particularly impressed with the consistently high production speed of 18,000 sheets per hour and the amazingly short makeready when changing jobs. The smooth running of the press at maximum speed adds to the high print quality.

“We needed a press that is designed to ensure fast setup and enables the high flexibility, quality, and rapid response times that our customers demand from us,” says Bob Ruebenson, President of General Converting, Inc., which is based in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Founded in 1982, the packaging print shop currently has 65 employees who produce high-quality folding cartons and displays around the clock, primarily for customers on the confectionery, food and cosmetics markets.

GCI is now much more productive since the installation of the eight-color Speedmaster XL 106 at the end of 2012. General manager John Barry feels he’s in safe hands with the Speedmaster XL 106: “We’re now able to ensure top quality for our customers, regardless of a job’s specifications.”
