They will gain the skills to identify and resolve file issues early in the workflow, reduce time lost to rework, and ensure that every job enters production in a print-ready state — resulting in improved efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Module 2: Automation

Optimising Workflow Through Intelligent Print Shop Automation

This module explores how Prinect Production transforms traditional print operations into streamlined, digitised environments. Designed for experienced users, this training focuses on how to reduce manual touchpoints, improve process reliability, and create intelligent automation workflows that connect your entire print production—from prepress to finishing.

Participants will learn how to unlock the full potential of Prinect's end-to-end automation capabilities, empowering their teams to work faster, smarter, and with fewer errors — all while gaining visibility into every stage of production.

What You’ll Learn

  • How Prinect Production digitises and automates your print shop from order intake to delivery
  • Setting up smart automation rules that reduce manual intervention and drive consistency
  • Managing colour and quality controls through automated checkpoints and inline monitoring
  • Using system-generated data for performance insights, reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Integration with MIS/ERP systems to synchronise job data, costing, and customer communication

Key Topics Covered

  • Workflow Configuration – How to build and customise workflows that suit different print applications (commercial, packaging, hybrid)
  • Job Ticketing & Planning – Automating job creation, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Automation Rules – Creating triggers for preflight, imposition, plating, and proofing
  • Colour & Quality Management – Setting up automated colour checks, reporting, and corrective feedback loops
  • Production Tracking – Live monitoring of job progress, device status, and performance KPIs
  • Reporting & Analytics – Understanding dashboards and how to use data for cost control and customer transparency
  • Integration Points – How Prinect connects to business systems and external software for seamless operations

Outcome

By the end of this module, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to set up and run fully automated workflows using Prinect Production. They’ll be able to identify automation opportunities in their own operations and apply the tools to save time, reduce waste, and elevate production quality.

Module 3: Colour

Achieving Consistent, Predictable, and High-Quality Colour in Print

In this module, participants will explore the full scope of Print Color Management (PCM) — a structured, HEIDELBERG-developed approach to achieving optimal colour results while significantly reducing makeready times and waste.

Print buyers and agencies expect accuracy, consistency, and vibrant results — and colour is often the most visible marker of quality. Through a blend of theory, system calibration, and hands-on application, this module equips operators and print managers with the skills and insight needed to deliver colour precision every time.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to define and implement colour standards for different substrates and jobs
  • The fundamentals of colourimetric and densitometric values and how they impact print outcomes
  • Systematic approaches to press optimisation, ink presetting, and accurate proofing
  • How to identify and eliminate colour inconsistencies across devices or shifts
  • Best practices for combining automated systems with operator judgement
  • Screening Technologies – Exploring AM/FM screening methods as well as multi-dot screening options, including their practical applications and implementation in print production.

Key Topics Covered

  • Defining Colour Standards – Setting benchmarks and targets based on job types and quality expectations
  • Process Calibration – Creating consistency across the press through system-based corrections
  • Ink Presetting and Makeready Optimisation – Reducing setup time, paper waste, and costly rework
  • Proofing and Colour Matching – Bridging the gap between screen, proof, and final print
  • Understanding Subjectivity in Colour – Learning where automation ends and trained human judgement begins
  • Documentation and Evaluation – Using data to track improvements and demonstrate print quality

Outcome

By the end of this module, participants will understand how to apply HEIDELBERG’s Print Color Management methodology to achieve predictable and repeatable colour results. They'll gain the skills to optimise press setup, reduce makeready times, and better meet the expectations of clients — resulting in smoother production and stronger customer satisfaction.

Module 4: Push to Stop

Revolutionising Print Production Through Autonomous Job Management

HEIDELBERG’s Push to Stop concept represents a major leap in print production — shifting from traditional operator-driven workflows to intelligent, autonomous processes. Designed around the powerful integration of Prinect software, Speedmaster presses, and the Prinect Press Center, this training module introduces users to a new paradigm: where the press doesn't wait for the operator to start, but runs continuously until told to stop.

Push to Stop changes how operators work — from managing manual steps to supervising a smart, self-driven system that delivers speed, consistency, and efficiency.

What You’ll Learn

  • The principles behind the Push to Stop concept and how it transforms traditional production
  • How job sequences are preloaded, optimised, and automatically executed without manual intervention
  • How to configure the Prinect system to support uninterrupted production through intelligent job scheduling
  • The operator's evolving role: from hands-on control to supervisory oversight and quality assurance
  • How to handle exception management and when/why to intervene

Key Topics Covered

  • Job Queue Automation – Managing multiple jobs in sequence with zero-touch transitions
  • Intelligent Press Control – Understanding how the Prinect Press Center uses real-time data to optimise speed, register, and colour
  • Autonomous Changeover – Automating plate changes, wash-up cycles, and presettings between jobs
  • Performance Boosting – How Push to Stop reduces downtime, improves consistency, and increases throughput
  • Operator Focus Shift – Training operators to prioritise visual inspection, quality metrics, and exception handling
  • System Setup & Customisation – Defining pre-set rules, job grouping, and workflows for different production needs

Outcome

By the end of this module, participants will understand how to implement and manage Push to Stop production within their own environment. They will be able to set up automated job flows, monitor performance, and maintain high output with minimal intervention — maximising uptime, reducing stress on operators, and unlocking the full potential of their HEIDELBERG technology.
