You determine the level of automation of your customized preflight solution. Prinect incorporates a number of combinable preflight modules that can be added to at any time. For example, you can use them to convert PostScript or EPS files into PDF documents, merge separate PDF files into composite files, put multi-page PDF documents on a sheet as single pages, or combine individual pages to create a single PDF document.
Other modules make it possible to identify errors in the PDF and correct them straight away or automatically convert fonts into vector graphics. The trapper is another convenient feature. It is used to create object-oriented traps, thereby ensuring that edges, contours and lines are printed without flashes! A further module for fully automatic color management checks your print PDFs for the color spaces, profiles and spot colors used and helps you spot potential sources of error in a matter of seconds. Color space changes from LAB and RGB to CMYK are also performed automatically.
The customized "dress rehearsal"
Check the number of colors created in the document or the resolution of embedded images. Automatically replace low-resolution images with high-resolution originals. If postpress is integrated into Prinect, marks required at a later stage can also be set. You can maximize color fidelity for repeat jobs with control marks that automatically adapt the color bar to the document coloring during impositioning.
You can also automatically establish the optimum print sheet assignment with repeats in different formats - for small items such as labels or business cards, for instance. Prinect calculates the number of sheets required, the amount of paper waste and any excess needed. With Prinect, you also use information from the job costing - such as binding methods, formats and page counts - at the impositioning stage to specify presets that ensure fast make-ready processes for your folders and cutters and top-quality print results.
Speed up platesetting with reliable, automated processes.
On your marks, get set, image. Speed and precision are crucial aspects of print plate production. Here too, the more automated your processes, the faster and more reliable they become. The raster image processor (RIP) converts the layout data for your print job into high-resolution screen dots that can then be output on platesetters, proofers or the digital press.
The Prinect RIP is based on Adobe Standard and works with the Adobe PDF Print Engine. The special thing about this process is that you can rip PDF documents directly without first converting to PostScript. The PDF documents are processed correctly with the transparencies, which avoids errors during proof and plate output.
The all-in-one solution
Prinect uses a single RIP for both proof and plate, thereby ensuring integrated color management and identical output results throughout your print shop workflow. In addition to being used for platesetting, the Prinect RIP links prepress with downstream production sections by forwarding digital data. For example, ink coverage values from the RIP are used to create ink presetting data for presses, and folding and cutting marks to preset postpress machines. This digital prepress data paves the way for quick make-ready processes.
Simulate your print result.
If you use proofs externally for customer approval or internally for checking the quality of work, they need to be identical to your print result. Prinect helps you ensure this is the case. With Prinect, you can output TIFF and PDF files on all standard proofing devices and achieve high fidelity. For completely reproducible color results with matching proof and print, Prinect works with the standardized International Color Consortium (ICC) color profiles. These serve as a worldwide color management standard and, with Prinect, they can be processed directly from any source without conversion. Using the same RIP for calculating the proof data and output to the press optimizes color matching between proof and press. You can also evaluate profiles embedded in PDF/X files directly, making your production more effective and reliable. Even spot colors can be displayed true to the original in the extended proof space.
Gradual profile adjustment for identical results
To improve the match even further, Prinect includes a function for interactive profile generation. Gradual profile adjustment in difficult color areas enables you to create ICC profiles with an average deviation between proof and print that is no longer visible to the human eye. The proof and print thus become identical. A perfect match is also obtained with true-color ROOM (Rip Once Output Many) proofs that eliminate virtually all differences between the approved proof and the print.
Precise color measurement
If you need to be able to assess the coloring of your proofs precisely - for example, based on the process or ISO standard, Prinect allows you to simply place a media wedge on the proof sheet. This ensures reliable measurement and documentation of results.
If your customer requests an authentic sample, you can also produce double-sided proofs - for results that are as identical as possible.
Many different factors determine the appropriate screening method for your print job. Prinect offers you a choice of conventional amplitude-modulated (AM) screens as well as frequency-modulated (FM), stochastic and hybrid screens. This versatility ensures that you can select the best screen for each customer configuration based on the plates, platesetter, paper, and press used.
This is even possible within a single PDF document. Combine different screen systems to screen individual text, image and graphic objects using the ideal method in each case. Object-dependent screening improves print quality. As a result, you can always achieve high-quality results and have the flexibility to optimize the relationship between print quality and production costs as required.
