Core Image completes relentless period of investment with Stahlfolder Ti 52

Core Image has completed a relentless period of investment with a Stahlfolder Ti 52 buckle folder that was delivered in January, marking completion of a front to back upgrade that sets the 25 year old company on its next growth path.

In the past two years the East Kilbride, Scotland printer has added a Heidelberg Versafire CV digital press, a Speedmaster SM 52-5+L with AxisControl spectral measurement, a Suprasetter and comprehensive Prinect workflows.

According to managing director Davy Hunter, creasing is becoming important for digital work where sometimes the process takes the moisture out of paper.

“This will be our first Stahlfolder but the Stahlfolder Ti 52 model is needed now to increase our range of folds, to give us higher productivity and to allow us to crease and fold in one pass, cutting out an offline operation and increasing the finished quality,” he says.

Out goes an old competitive folding machine and in comes an industrial level folder, the Stahlfolder Ti 52 buckle folder which can handle stocks of 40 to 250 gsm.

“Business has been good and it is no use investing in great presses and leaving folding behind. It completes our current large-scale investment period. From here on we will stagger investment but seeing all this new kit coming in has been great for staff morale and for our customers who can be even more confident in the quality and response we provide,” says Mr. Hunter.

In addition to folding, Core Image offers extensive finishing services including lamination, die-cutting, foiling, embossing double wire stitching and perfect/PUR binding.
