The project's core element is the afforestation of an area that lies fallow and is exposed to erosion and desertification. During afforestation, a mixed forest of exclusively indigenous tree species will be planted on a surface of 1,000 ha in a nature conservation zone. This enables the creation of a self-regulating ecosystem.
Under the auspices of the natureOffice GmbH, the non-profit organization AVES Togo - which has a longstanding experience in developing environmental protection projects - will provide support in realizing the project locally.

For the entire Heidelberg trade show at drupa 2012 all CO2 emissions were offset. With the share allocated to the social development the local population was able to construct an urgently needed well. Therefore the village community dedicated the well to Heidelberg.
