Geiger-Notes AG specializes in the printed production of notebooks, calendars and adhesive notes.
The company operates a Speedmaster XL 106-4-P+L at its Schwäbisch Hall site in Germany. Although the press has been operating on an IPA-reduced mode since installation, it still requires the use alcohol-based chemicals.
Like most print shops, Geiger-Notes started experiencing problems in the procurement of isopropyl alcohol right from the start of the coronavirus crisis. As it became obvious that the supply problems would only worsen over time, quick measures were required to ensure continued production.
It is a good thing that Geiger-Notes and Heidelberg Germany have been working closely together for a long time - and that the print shop is using Heidelberg consumables. Various measures, such as replacing the dampening rollers, adjusting the dampening units and training the printers on site - also in the area of dampening solution analysis and monitoring - had already created the best conditions for being able to react quickly in these fast-paced times.
After a brief consultation on application technology, it was thus possible to quickly switch to IPA-free printing and ensure seamless production.
