Speedmaster XL 105-8+L and Speedmaster XL 106-8+L. From zero to 77 million in a single year – the Speedmaster impresses with consistently outstanding productivity.

It just keeps on running …

“If you’re looking for reliable speed, reduced paper waste, optimum color consistency and outstanding print quality, the Speedmaster XL 105 is the clear first choice.” That’s the assessment of Richard Mueller, NCL Chairman of the Board, after his first year with the Speedmaster. And with 77 million prints a year, the numbers speak for themselves. “The eight-color press runs consistently and reliably at 18,000 sheets an hour, thus making it much easier for us to stick to our schedules,” adds Mueller.

As well as label printing, NCL Graphic Specialties, founded in 1963, is also active in the games/sweepstakes and coupon sectors. Based in the metropolitan region of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, NCL produces over 14 billion labels and packaging components a year with around 170 employees working in three-shift operation seven days a week. The customers are large consumer goods companies and advertising agencies in the U.S. The trend toward minimal delivery times is also a major focus for NCL – a trend that the print shop is ideally placed to respond to with the highly productive Speedmaster and its exceptionally high availability.

So it comes as no surprise that NCL has just taken a second Speedmaster into operation – this time around a Speedmaster XL 106-8+L with CutStar and Prinect Image Control. It provides additional capacity to ensure high levels of cost-effectiveness and flexibility for short and long runs at all times. Mueller has no regrets about switching from web to sheetfed offset: “The unbeatable productivity of the Speedmaster made it easy to invest in what was for us a new technology.”
