"The move to the Speedmaster SX 74 in the 50×70 format opens up new markets for us, increasing our capacity and productivity," explains Craig Cowan, managing director at Cowan Print. The new machine replaces one of the two Speedmaster SX 52s. "Many know us as a small printing company, but with the acquisition of the Speedmaster SX 74, that will change. With this machine, we can expand our range of offerings and thus our customer base," Craig Cowan continues.
"Of course, a format change also entails a change in plate production. But with HEIDELBERG, that's not a problem at all. By purchasing a license, we were able to convert our Suprasetter A52 into an A75 within a day. A technician did that 'on the side' during the machine installation," Craig Cowan enthuses.
Cowan Print delivers its products from Kilsyth near Glasgow not only to Scotland but throughout the United Kingdom. Even though it's just a small printing company, Cowan Print offers a wide range of services: from digital and offset printing to various finishing techniques such as folding, saddle stitching, collating, and laminating, to design and delivery. They produce classic commercial products such as magazines, business reports, business cards, and letterheads. As a second pillar, the company also offers office supplies to its customers, such as toner, printer paper, pens, and computer accessories. Cowan Print operates two shifts, five days a week, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
"The Speedmaster SX 74 is the ideal 'workhorse' for printing companies that need to cover a wide range. For example, the adjustable transfer cylinders make it much easier to switch between thin and very thick substrates. The Prinect Press Center with Intellistart operator guidance determines the optimal process sequence when changing jobs. And with Prinect Easy Control, we have a fast and reliable color measurement system by our side," explains Craig Cowen the advantages of his machine. "Not only has our machine grown, but so have we!"
