Lean production standards with highly automated workflows are a key success factor in reducing waste and inventories. This is particularly true when it comes to spot colors. Prinect provides the exact description of the corporate and brand colors in a central database, generates the color profiles for the various printing methods, and replaces spot colors with process colors if necessary.
Seven process colors, namely CMYK plus orange, green, and violet, can reproduce hundreds of PANTONE® colors. How? By printing them in the extended color guide with Prinect Multicolor . The user sees how well the inking will be achieved with the process colors in the print preview, and can decide accordingly. This method, which is also used in the Heidelberg Labelfire and Primefire digital inkjet machines, reduces throughput times and storage costs.
Prinect Multicolor is also used for color stabilization in critical color ranges such as for white goods (household appliances) or in the beige/brown range for foodstuffs. The method prevents tone value fluctuations between two and three percent by using neutral inks such as gray, beige, or brown instead of one of the four process colors. For example, using brown instead of black stops chocolate looking reddish sometimes and greenish other times, and keeps it looking an appetizing brown.
