Trade printer Walsh Colour Print was the first company in Ireland to take delivery of the new and highly productive Stahlfolder TH82-P. Managing director Tony Walsh says: “I am not sure what we did before we had this machine. It is fantastic and has enabled us to replace three machines.”
Tony and his wife Patricia attended drupa 2016 and placed the order there, finding it ideal for the book and section work handled. The company likes to remain at the cutting edge of technology and wants equipment that provides control, reliability and output.
Also important is the service and support. “The operators received three days training and after one week on their own they could run it at maximum speed with no issues,” says Tony Walsh. “The quality coming off the folder is as impressive as the speed. Every section is perfect without a mis-fold at high speed and we have run stocks from 80 to 170gsm.”
The Stahlfolder TH82-P is an impressively high output buckle folder, available with different automation levels, targeted at the most productive industrial printers. Shingled feeding enables more sheets to be processed in less time without increasing the machine speed. It can handle 16,000 16-page A4 sections an hour with a machine running at speed of just 150 meters a minute. That means maximum paper control, even with sensitive papers, as well as high output of standard section format work. There is also a combination equivalent, the Stahlfolder KH 82-P.
“This is a workhorse of a machine. Rarely does one buy a machine that does exactly what it says on the tin. It is an essential companion for a high speed press,” says Tony Walsh.
