New generation of printers from around the world meets at the Print Media Center

The best up-and-coming printers from 15 countries visited the Print Media Center mid July and put the finishing touches to the World Print Championships in Kazan, Russia on August 23-26.

The WorldSkills competition is held every two years: Heidelberg has supported the Print Media Technology competition since 2006. A few weeks before the competition, the Print Media Center traditionally offers all participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the machines used in the competition.

This time, these are: a Speedmaster SX 52 offset press, a digital press and a Polar 78 Pro cutting machine. The participants were accompanied by their national coaches, experts and interpreters.

A total of 63 nations took part in the 46th WorldSkills. Competitions are held in 56 different professions. The German national team will provide one participant in 35 of them. Jessica Sturm, the German champion media technologist has prepared herself intensively for the competition in recent months; she has also been a guest at the Print Media Center and at the Federal Center of Excellence for Printing Technology at WorldSkills Germany on several occasions. Her objective from now on: to reach out for the medal.
