A shift in focus to offset printing and the construction in Wiesloch of the printing press factory are the events that mark the beginning of a new era for Schnellpressenfabrik. Even today, the 860,000 square meter production site in Wiesloch remains the largest and most modern printing machine factory in the world. The machines manufactured here include the offset models Printmaster and Speedmaster. The company underlines this development with a new name: in 1967, Schnellpressenfabrik is renamed "Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG". This allows the firm to confirm its position as one of the world's leading manufacturers; and its international growth can no longer be restrained. Over the coming years, Heidelberg opens offices in over 170 countries.
Heidelberg's first one-color offset printing machine KOR (small offset rotation) was the star of drupa 1962. 1,000 machines were sold within 14 trade show days and within a quarter of a century, 38,800 K-offset machines had left the production site at Wiesloch. In 1974, Heidelberg presented the Speedmaster - an entirely new high-performance machine processing up to 11,000 sheets an hour. Global success stories, such as the Speemaster and the Printmaster, under- lined the key importance offset printing had, and still has, for Heidelberg.
