Based near Brussels, Artoos is a unique one-stop-shop for marketing communication. “We aim to take all concerns about on- and offline communication off our clients hands with a results-oriented and sustainable approach” says Filip Coosemans, Technical Director at Artoos. In reaching this goal, its services range from design and layout to prepress, press, and postpress operations. The company takes on complete communication assignments for large companies located all over Europe, has a workforce of 140, and operates two shifts.
“To be able to speed up our clients time to market and to operate as energy-efficient and environment-friendly as we possibly can, we constantly invest in new, more profitable machines and technologies” states Filip Coosemans. Since 2010, Artoos has invested in four Speedmaster presses: a Speedmaster XL 75-5+L, an SM 52-5 Anicolor, an XL75-10-P+L and – in September 2012 – in the Speedmaster XL 106-10-P. The machine’s efficiency and user-friendly operation make the print shop extremely flexible.
“When we purchased the Speedmaster XL 106, we assumed it would give us a 50 percent higher capacity than with the previous competitor’s press, but I have to admit that we underestimated the XL!” says Filip Coosemans who is excited about the possibilities of his new acquisition. “On one occasion, we achieved 50 plate changes in a single shift and another time we printed 110,000 sheets per shift, the press operated at top speed throughout. The exceptionally fast job changes and high production speed of the Speedmaster create the basis for unbeatable productivity with both short and long runs.”
Also from a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) point of view, the Speedmasters seem to be an excellent choice. “We choose to equip all Speedmasters with Inpress Control, the inline register and color measurement system from Heidelberg. The first OK sheet is thus produced exceptionally quickly, with job changeover times of just six minutes. Given that our average total job time is 30 minutes and there are 15 job changes per shift, this is essential for our end-to-end high productivity.”
