Taylor celebrates 25 year partnership with Heidelberg with another press

23/03/2015

Taylor Brothers in Bristol is commissioning a Speedmaster XL 75-5+L which will go into full production in the next week. Operators have had offsite training in Brentford and will have their in-house training in the next few days.

“The Speedmaster XL 75 is the best B2 press on the market and Inpress Control adds to its productivity and the quality of its output,” says Charles Taylor, joint managing director. “The coating is essential for the type of work we do which is often highly designed with solid colours but always fast turnround. We have some very demanding corporate customers.”

The new press replaces a nine year old Speedmaster CD 74-6. The company argues that the volume of six-colour work has diminished and so a sixth unit was not cost justifiable this time round. The investment reflects its faith in offset which it says still has the quality advantage when it comes to uncoated stocks although it is close to parity with digital on coated stocks.

Taylor Brothers retains a Speedmaster CD 74-4 and a Linoprint C 901. Digital print now accounts for about 10% of turnover.

“We have ISO 14001 environmental certification and the new press has good sustainability credentials. Inpress Control will generate savings on makeready times and materials and improve running speeds and quality. It is a fantastic feature. The short delivery gives the operators more space and saves on power consumption,” says Mr Taylor.

Run lengths of all sizes will be handled on the press and a diverse range of work. It will operate on a double day shift and will be linked in to the Pressroom Manager already in use for the CD 74.

“I believe this press will underpin our excellent reputation for service and ensure our customers receive a reliably consistent product,” says Mr Taylor.

Taylor Brothers has been in operation since the 1830s. It is a progressive company but with an emphasis on traditional values. It invests in its people as well as its equipment and it focuses on listening to customers and meeting their specific needs by providing a top quality, responsive service.
