Diguru scores UK first and looks set for further expansion

16/02/2015

The first Heidelberg Linoprint CV digital press in the UK is destined for Diguru in Chandler’s Ford near Southampton. It will be delivered this month, followed by a Polar 66 guillotine.

Diguru, for which read digital gurus, currently runs two Xerox digital presses and a Presstek DI machine and the Linoprint will be an additional press. In just five years the company which supplies high quality commercial print to the agency and end user markets has grown its turnover from £400,000 to over £1m and it believes this investment will continue that growth.

“The fact the Linoprint CV can produce a six page A4 or A4 landscape product is a big advantage and we are taking a five colour machine so have the option to add an opaque white or clear varnish coating which will be particularly attractive to our agency clients,” says managing director Richard Harwood.

The Linoprint CV is a 90 page per minute machine which can handle stocks of 52 to 360gsm in sheet sizes of up to 330 x 70mm using the new banner sheet feeder. This technology uses a new improved toner with a smaller micron size and larger colour gamut.

The press will be used to produce a wide range of products from business cards through to brochures and leaflet for customers that include B&Q, Carnival UK, NHS. Ageas Insurance, GEO Amey and Mitie and a number of local authorities and colleges and universities.

“The financial deal on this press was attractive and the Heidelberg reputation and industry knowledge, particularly on colour, was convincing,” says Mr Harwood.

The company has a 50-50 split between litho and digital work. It also operates wide format technology and it plans to add 3-D printing in the future. Diguru attributes its success to a strong team, including the four partners but also production and sales staff who are energetic and committed to making sure customers receive the products and service they expect.
