Diamond adds digital sparkle with a second Linoprint C 901

28/01/2015

Diamond Colour Print has taken delivery of one of the last Heidelberg Linoprint C901digital presses, determined to match the existing press which has added £200,000 a year to the turnover of the Dartford company.

“We wanted this proven technology,” says managing director Roy Risley. “Our first Linoprint C 901 has generated a high volume of short run business from existing offset customers and new markets. We have used Fogra standards and set up colour matching across proofing, digital and offset technologies in-house so that our customers can be confident of the colour quality and consistency.”

The company finished the year with a turnover just short of £1.1m, of which £900,000 was from offset. With the new Linoprint in place the company believes it can reach at least £300,000 in digital sales and grow the business.

The company did review alternative digital options, Xerox and Kodak in particular, but it came down in favour of the Linoprint which has the quality and reliability the company was looking for.

“You know when you are dealing with Heidelberg you will get the right advice and support. They understand the ethos of the commercial printer and can make things happen if anything goes wrong,” says Mr Risley.

The press will run on a flexible single shift. The new machine will lead to a new full time position at Diamond Colour Print.

Heidelberg has recently announced the replacement of the Linoprint C901 and C 751 with Linoprint CP and CV models.
