Fine Print Services moves from Kodak to Heidelberg CtP.

29/06/2018

Fine Print Services will take delivery of a Heidelberg Suprasetter A75 next month. It will replace a Kodak Magnus which the Witney company has had for over eight years.

Managing Director Dan Bakewell says: “We have two XL75 presses so always have an automatic backup solution. We have only one CtP device and if it fails everything stops so we needed a platesetter that is reliable from a company which has proven support and back up. That is strong with Heidelberg.

“Another key reason for switching supplier is to integrate the platesetter better within our Heidelberg Prinect workflow, enhancing existing JDF and JMF processes to seamlessly supply information about plates made back into our Shuttleworth MIS to capture costs and update job milestones.”

Fine Print Services sources almost all of its consumables from Heidelberg, including the plates and chemistry. It likes the fact it can access expert support when it is needed and that all the Saphira consumables are trialled before coming to market.

The 2,500 plates per month anticipated output will feed the Speedmaster XL 75-5 LE-UV installed 18 months ago (“a terrific machine” according to Mr Bakewell) and a conventional Speedmaster XL 75-5. The average run length for the company is around 1,000 sheets.

Fine Print Services works for a range of business customers including pharmaceutical and household brands and prestigious brands like Goodwood. It prints promotional brochures, leaflets and branded stationery through to exhibition materials.
