Heidelberg UK is to sell Gallus labels products from next April. Heidelberg has wholly owned Gallus since August 2014 and the UK has been selling its packaging portfolio for the last two years so this is a natural next step forward.
“We are very excited to be broadening our portfolio into the labels sector which encompasses a range of technologies, often combined in one machine and including the new digital converting DCS 340 which turned heads at Labelexpo in Brussels this autumn,” says Gerard Heanue, managing director.
Christof Naier, vice president sales and services for the Gallus labels business, says: “We see great opportunities by joining Heidelberg UK. It will combine the extensive expertise of the Gallus technicians with the structural and logistical benefits of operating within the Heidelberg organisation. This combination will allow us to significantly increase our service performance.”
The portfolio includes 12 reel to finished product machines, modular lines which can feature many different processes. In addition it offers workflow, consumables and training packages.
On 1 April three members of staff from Gallus Group UK will transfer to Heidelberg’s service team, two to join sales and one to administration. The Gallus HQ in Didsbury will be sold.
Matt Rockley, presses specialist at Heidelberg UK, says: “Adding the Gallus portfolio is a very exciting development. We have worked with labels printers for many years but this will spearhead a further push into that market. The technology is awesome and there are on-going product developments, always with an eye to offering efficient and high quality products.
”Heidelberg’s knowledge of colour and workflows and its training facilities at the showroom in Brentford will be an asset with this development but equally we are keen to learn from the expert team who will transfer across to us.”
Gallus is a global business with its HQ in St Gallen in Switzerland and the 8,700 sq m facility has a strong R&D department and a Printing Technology Centre. It also has manufacturing units in Herisau (Switzerland) and Langgöns (Germany).
