Bartham Press orders a Stahlfolder CH 56 at Open House

25/11/2015

Steve Loasby, partner in Bartham Group, attended the Heidelberg open house last week and ordered a Stahlfolder CH 56.

“We have a bottleneck at the finishing end,” says Mr Loasby. “We had already bought a Morgana card cutter to take pressure off the guillotines so now we focused on folding. We looked at two suppliers both had the new automated system required in today’s market but Heidelberg’s Stahlfolder had a better build and was more robust. We felt that the residual value would be better and the Heidelberg price was competitive.”

The company is replacing a Stahlfolder KH56 and retaining its existing buckle machine, the Stahlfolder TD66. The CH 56 is a more automated folder and ideal for the B2 printer. Both the parallel and cross fold operations are automated.

“The two Stahlfolders we have had since 2007 are still working well and I could count on one hand the number of times we have had to call out a Heidelberg engineer. They are reliable machines,” says Mr Loasby.

Bartham Group, based in Luton has ridden five to six years of recession but has seen a big improvement in business over the last 18 months. Mr Loasby attributes this to the general economic upturn and bringing in Raj Koyes to handle the day to day running of the business. It is a general commercial printer offering business cards, leaflets and other promotional material to end users. It is proud to handle the programme for local football club Luton Town Football Club.
