The new Polar Digicut entry level laser die-cutter arrives in Brentford this week ready to make its UK debut at Heidelberg’s Rapid Response open house on 18 and 19 November.
Jim Todd, sales director of Heidelberg UK, says: “The main feature of this open house remains the application of Linoprint digital printing combined with LED-UV offset technology to produce dry sheets that can be immediately processed for rapid order delivery. But it is fantastic news that we are able to reveal a new product, one which can add value and broaden the portfolio of the “Rapid Response” printer.
“The Polar Digicut is a manually fed laser die-cutter that will open up a range of opportunities for cutting, perforating, creasing and engraving to produce items like high quality bespoke stationery, greetings cards, menus, packaging, jigsaws and lanterns. It is now commercially available to buy.”
The time taken to produce pieces on the Digicut will depend on the complexity of the design. At its simplest it could produce a personalised book mark in 18 seconds whereas a highly complex patterned folding box might take six minutes. There are no additional tool costs and set up time is minimal. It is ideal for the one to 500 run job which needs to stand out from the crowd.
Paul Thompson, Polar product specialist at Heidelberg UK, says: “I think small and medium sized printers who want to offer something different with a modest capital outlay will come to view the Digicut. It might also appeal as a sample maker for carton producers. Its quality of cut and ability to handle fine detailed work is exceptional.”
Heidelberg will show a range of Polar cutting technology and Stahlfolders. Other third parties represented at this Rapid Response open house are: Muller Martini; Tharstern; IST; Morgana; Swemko and ATS Banding.
