Speedmaster XL 106-4+L. 18,000 sheets per hour – absolutely no problem even with large runs, on thin papers, and on substrates with a weight of 400 g/m2.
“Our Speedmaster XL 106 is perfect for our wide product range, enabling us to process both large job volumes and lots of small series on substrates from 80 g/m2 to 400 g/m2. The key to efficient production of jobs like these is stable sheet travel and shorter job change times. Two points that set the XL 106 far apart from its rivals. A lot of our production is done at full capacity, in other words at 18,000 sheets per hour. And that’s absolutely no problem, even with large runs, on thin papers, and on substrates with a weight of 400 g/m2,” explains Jean-Marc Rhodes, Managing Director of Mavit Sival. “Before investing, representatives from the printing department and I visited a number of print shops equipped with machines from Heidelberg and the competition. This gave us a good idea of the performance of the presses, and enabled us to assess how they would work in daily operation. It was a very interesting exercise, one that quickly convinced us of the benefits of XL technology in respect of productivity, quality, makeready times, and ergonomics,” continues Jean-Marc Rhodes.
Mavit Sival, based in Carcassonne, is part of the Antoli Group. The company specializes in brochures and leaflets, which make up approx. 50 percent of its turnover and are mainly produced for local customers like local authorities, agencies, and companies. The company also produces a wide range of promotional material and business stationery as well as cosmetics packagings for large customers like laboratories and banks in the Paris region. The company has 30 employees, carries the Imprim‘Vert quality seal, and is FSC/PEFC certified.
Mavit Sival exclusively uses products and Saphira consumables from Heidelberg, both in offset and digital printing, and in prepress and postpress. Everything is networked using the Prinect workflow from Heidelberg. “I selected a single supplier for the entire production chain for efficiency reasons, and at the same time I chose Saphira consumables for plates, inks, coatings, printing chemicals, and rubber blankets. We also have a single point of contact at Heidelberg, who guarantees us consistent follow-up on commercial and technical issues without delay,” says Jean-Marc Rhodes. “The Speedmaster XL 106 has changed the way we work; we do a lot more in advance since we can now better prepare the upstream work and in this way be more efficient in how we link jobs. Prinect Inpress Control, the heart of the process chain, offers impressive improvements with continuous ink tracking as well as stability of ink application, and reduces paper waste by 50 percent. The operators like this system, because they can now prepare the next tasks at their ease. With this machine we can be confident about the future, and meet any new requirements,” explains Jean-Marc Rhodes.
