“Our Speedmaster XL 106 8-color perfecting press with DryStar LED combines offset quality with the flexibility of a digital press. The makeready times are excellent, and it can process uncoated papers and synthetic substrates with no problems at all.” Roland Soubras , one of the Managing Directors of SNEL, a Belgian print shop specializing in publishing and commercial printing, is impressed by the new technology. SNEL is the first print shop in the Benelux countries with such a machine. “Together with our new Speedmaster XL 106 5-color press with coating unit, the 8-color LED UV press will replace four of our other models! We are expecting productivity gains of 25 to 30 percent,” sums up Roland Soubras. “This is the technology of the future – no question.”
SNEL, the Société Nouvelle des Editions Liégeoises , was established in 1990 in Vottem, north of Liège, and currently has 70 employees. From the start, the two Managing Directors Flavio De Beni and Roland Soubras have focused on industrial production and expanding the range of services for customers. SNEL has responded to market challenges like immense price competition, the rise of digital printing, and fierce competition with a systematic quality and productivity strategy. The company has a strong service-oriented approach, and is the only one-stop print shop in Wallonia. It even offers training courses for customers on data handling and color management.
“The complete integration that Heidelberg offers us is ideally tailored to the needs of printers. This means that our productivity will go up by 25 to 30 percent, without increasing our workload,” explains Stéphane De Beni, Flavio’s son. This made the decision to purchase a Speedmaster with DryStar LED dryer technology an easy one. “The extremely quick job changes and the instantly dry sheets will further increase our company’s productivity. We expect to make huge savings in the around 60,000 printing plates we use each year.”
