Mega-Jesta Prints, Inc. was established in 1990 and originally operated as Mega Prints in Valenzuela City, north of Manila in the Philippines. The company was founded to meet the growing demand for textbook printing services, driven by a wide range of publishers across the Philippines. From the beginning, Mega-Jesta has focused on delivering high-quality educational materials efficiently and reliably. Today, the company employs over 60 people.
Over the years, Mega-Jesta has expanded its services beyond textbooks, branching into various areas of the printing industry. It now offers a diverse range of solutions including desktop publishing, offset printing, lithography, and other printing services for schools, organizations, and institutions in both the private and public sectors.
As part of its business expansion, the company was incorporated in 1995 and became Mega-Jesta Prints, Inc., under the leadership of Mrs. Ma. Teresa M. Ortico, the current Chief Executive Officer. Her commitment to quality has been central to the company’s mission of delivering exceptional printing services and ensuring customer satisfaction.
To enhance productivity and maintain its competitive edge, Mega-Jesta has steadily invested in HEIDELBERG technologies, including the Suprasetter A 106, Prinect Production Manager, and most recently, in 2023, the Speedmaster SX 74-4, which replaced the older Speedmaster SM 74 model.
Mrs. Ortico explains, “The printing industry has undergone significant changes in recent years. Our core business of printing books and related materials shifted during the pandemic. We transitioned from producing textbooks, yearbooks, and notebooks to printing educational modules for both public and private schools. Additionally, the rise of eBooks has led us to diversify into short-run prints such as flyers and brochures, many of which require specialty papers and colors.”
She also notes the increasing competition from new market entrants who use aggressive pricing strategies. “Before acquiring the new Speedmaster SX 74, we relied on our older Speedmaster SM 72. It required more time and manpower, which made our pricing less competitive.”
The adoption of the Speedmaster SX 74 has significantly improved productivity—tripling output compared to the previous machine. The integration of the Prinect Production Manager has streamlined the entire production process, from prepress to press, reducing manual adjustments, color matching, and human error.
“One feature we particularly appreciate about the Speedmaster SX 74 is the automatic ink zone adjustment using the Prinect Easy Control measuring device. It helps us quickly achieve accurate color guides, saving time on color calibration. Another valuable feature is the ability to save settings for each project, which is especially useful for reprints of school books,” says Emilio Jose M. Ortico, Head of Marketing.
These technological upgrades have strengthened Mega-Jesta’s market position. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue focusing on its core business while exploring new opportunities for growth.
