Solisco expands capacity & adapts to shorter runs with Speedmaster CX 104

Solisco, a commercial printer with two production facilities near Quebec City, QC, installed a Speedmaster CX 104-6+L at its Scott headquarters in late 2022. The new press delivers faster speeds and quicker makereadies, enabling the company to keep pace with growing demand for shorter run books, publications, magazines, and catalogs.

“We felt the Speedmaster CX 104 really fit in with our current business but also allowed us some flexibility for the future,” said Alex Jacques, Director of Manufacturing for Solisco.

Historically, Solisco relied on multiple webfed presses to handle long-run jobs like magazines, comic books, four-color books, catalogs, and flyers. However, shifting market demands are pushing the company toward shorter runs and more frequent job changeovers. “The Speedmaster CX 104 allows us to adapt to different changes in the market,” Jacques noted.

Thanks to the press’s flexibility and efficiency, Solisco has successfully moved some of its web-printed jobs onto the Speedmaster CX 104. Since its installation, the machine has increased overall capacity and throughput while continuing to deliver high-quality results for customers. The investment positions Solisco to respond more quickly and cost-effectively to today’s dynamic publishing landscape.
