Schmid-Fehr AG (Goldach, Switzerland) has a long-standing business relationship with Heidelberg Schweiz AG. The decision to purchase the Jetfire 50 continues this close collaboration.
The sheetfed inkjet system, equipped with a C.P. Bourg finishing line for inline production of stapled and cut brochures, went into operation in April 2005. Integration with Prinect technology and the associated process automation were decisive factors in choosing the complete solution from HEIDELBERG.
With the installation of Prinect Touch Free planned for 2026, Schmid-Fehr AG will continue to drive automation forward. The AI-supported software will guide orders independently and without human intervention through the entire manufacturing process – always taking into account the most cost-effective production, the available capacities in sheetfed offset and digital printing, the current order backlog, and delivery dates.
Schmid-Fehr AG was one of the early adopters of Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI). For several years now, Heidelberg Schweiz AG has been responsible for managing consumables. The VMI model has proven itself in sheetfed offset and has now been extended to cover all consumables for the Jetfire 50.
Schmid-Fehr has been working on digitizing processes for many years, and its first online shop was set up in 1997. Customers can choose which channels they want to use to publish content: as a print product, on online platforms, or via social media.
