He has the print-ready machine mounted on a demo car, which is then driven across the country. It is the state-of-the-art production technology as well as these innovative marketing methods that allow Heidelberg to climb to the top of the German printing press industry. Success overseas is not long coming. Already in the Twenties, Heidelberg establishes ties with companies in Japan. By the mid-Thirties, demo cars are rolling throughout Europe, the U.S., South America and Australia, and the company is soon earning 60 percent of its profits from sales overseas.

The demo cars with the ready-to-print printing presses convinced prin- ters all over the world of the outstanding qualities of Heidelberg products. And vehicles with the well-known Heidelberg logo are still on the road today, dri- ving, for example, through the wide open plains of Russia. Naturally the demo busses are equipped in- side and out with state-of-the-art technology.
