Compared to their manual variants, the automated Stahlfolder BH/CH folding machines can be set up by up to 30% more quickly. With the loading of fold programs – either from the storage of the machine or by data from the Prinect Workflow with repeat orders – setting steps like folding rollers, slitter shafts and buckle plate stops are done fully automatically and thus do not require any interference from the operator.
With the reduction of the operating elements and -steps to the very necessary, each operator can adjust the automated Stahlfolder folding machine by a selection of fold type, the input of sheet width and length and the paper grammage.
Operate where the operator is standing:
- Touchscreen at feeder
- Control panel at alignment table
- Control panel at 2nd station
- Control panel at 3rd station
- Control panel at 4th station
- Control panel at the delivery
When setting-up a new fold job, all settings of the folder are reset to the basic setting so that no settings of the machine influence negatively the following job.
This „unloaded drive“ reduces the machine wear to a minimum.
“Key operator of the folding machine gets sick during high volume job. Delivery date in jeopardy. Colleague from the saddle stitcher has to fill in. The Heidelberg service expert could train the operator quickly by using Remote Service. The operator got a short training within 30 minutes. Print shop was able to setup and produce the new job. The job was delivered on time to the customer.”
A 16-pages signature A4 with 135 g/m² can be produced on a BH 82 Stahlfolder with 7,000 to 9,000 sheets per hour.
While the current job is running, it is possible to already pre-load the piles for the follow-up orders on the mobile piling tables at the folders or at the cutting machine so that only the flat pile tables must be changed for the makeready of the machine. This reduces your non-productive time especially with small runs to a minimum.
The Stahlfolder BH/CH folding machines achieve an annual average output of a 16-pages A4-signature with two shifts of around 25 million signatures. They are therefore ideal for the supplement of capacity or the upgrade of your machinery to the latest state of technology.
Besides the mere signature production your product range can be enlarged by using center gluing devices or gatefold buckle plates. Increase your value added chain by a monitored production with image detection system at the alignment table of the feeder.
How profitable you are folding, depends on the throughput time of your fold jobs, which divides into setup time and production time. Both can be reduced, e.g. with the Stahlfolder CH 56 KT auto, so that you can produce economically, both, for small runs with frequent setup processes and also larger runs with a constantly high output quantity – also the hybrid production of both variants is economical.
Jobs can be loaded by pre-settings with the automated Stahlfolder BH/CH folders and go into production quickly.
