Stitchmaster ST 100 - High-Performance Saddlestitching in
Formats up to A4+.
Featuring fast and easy makeready, the Stitchmaster ST 100
ensures efficient finishing of editions of 3,000 to 10,000 copies,
and even longer runs with constantly changing formats. Operating at
up to 9,000 cycles an hour and able to handle formats up to A4+,
the robust and easy-to-operate Stitchmaster ST 100 is ideal for
getting started in saddlestitching. It enables print shops and
binderies to bring the entire production process in-house.
Makeready is supported by a menu-based program. The settings for
changing the format are shown one by one in the display of the
stored-program control system. The entire saddlestitcher can thus
be quickly and conveniently prepared for each new job.
The double vertical feeders of the Stitchmaster ST 100 are
designed for a choice of sucker opening and gripper opening with
high or low folio. With sucker opening, signatures with closed head
or foot are opened by suckers. With high folio opening, the folio
lip is at least five millimeters (0.20 inch), and with low folio
opening the folio lip is at least eight millimeters (0.32 inch).
Their modular design permits the use of up to four feeder units.
This means that you can work with up to eight feeders, each of
which accommodates a large pile volume.
Like the double vertical feeders, the cover folder feeder of
the Stitchmaster ST 100 is also thoroughly designed for highly
reliable saddlestitching in the format range up to A4+. Vertically
loading of covers ensures particularly gentle production, because
even with a large pile volume the pressure remains small. The
format can be easily changed using a lock lever right on the cover
folder feeder. The folding center, the sheet stop angle and the
blast air and vacuum can all be finely adjusted on-the-fly.
Integrated inside and outside scoring enables you to produce
convincing results with different cover types flexibly and
consistently. Either inside or outside scoring can be performed;
change between the two is possible with just a few manual steps.
Adjustment of the scoring tools to the cover thickness is done with
the proven, play-free 1:1 FESTA quick adjustment.
The product is motionless during stitching, which yields
optimum quality. The saddle chain is built to ensure smooth
transport of the signatures. In its basic version, the stitcher has
two stitching heads for standard 14-millimeter (0.55-inch)
stitches. But up to four standard or loop stitching heads can be
deployed - thus dependably meeting all requirements for products in
the format range up to A4+. The stitching thickness is centrally
entered, resulting in simultaneous setting of the wire length.
Due to its exceedingly robust, sturdy design, the trimmer of
the Stitchmaster ST 100 copes well with heavy workloads. Products
are trimmed while all of the conveyor belts stand perfectly still,
thus almost completely eliminating any chance of marking. Up to 50
millimeters (1.97 inches) can be trimmed off each of three sides.
First a precise side cut is made, followed by trimming of the head
and foot. The side trim can be adjusted on-the-fly using a
handwheel.
