Speedmaster SM 74 - User Report: Platt Grupo Impresor

The Platt Grupo Impresor print shop was founded in 1994 by Claudio Hartig and Jorge Bazan. They started with a SORMZ and an MO-V+L machine. In 2004 Claudio Hartig added a Speedmaster SM 74-4+L, and since then they have taken on another Speedmaster SM 74-4+L. Even with the MO-V+L machine, coating was one of the special features that set the company apart from its competitors. From the very beginning the print shop focused on high-quality print products like books, brochures and journals with grammages of between 70 and 300 grams per square meter. The company now employs thirty workers and processes on average some three million sheets of paper per year. Most of their print assignments are four-color jobs of between 1,000 and well over 5,000 sheets.

"Our clients expect the highest print quality, the fastest possible turnaround and around-the-clock service," says owner Claudio Hartig. This explains why the press room operates 24 hours a day, six days a week. Total service is an important philosophy for Platt Grupo Impresor. Computer-to-plate technology is used in prepress and for postpress processes the print shop is equip-
ped with a cutting and folding machine.

There are many reasons why the company opted for a second Speedmaster SM 74. Claudio Hartig was convinced by the productivity and print quality of his first Speedmaster SM 74. He also selected a Heidelberg machine for the excellent quality and because it retains its value so well. "With this machine we are looking to increase production and to stop the practice of passing assignments on to other print shops due to machine shortages," Hartig comments. "With Heidelberg we have a dependable partner on our side."
