Printmaster GTO 52 - User Report: HaPaRo OHG
"Since we started using the new Printmaster GTO 52 two-color
press, we haven't had to outsource a single job," reports a
satisfied Ralf Austrup.
For just under a year, Austrup has been running Druckteam
HaPaRo OHG in Düsseldorf (Germany) with his brother, Dietmar.
Prior to taking over the print shop from previous owner Mr. Lorenz,
the two brothers ran a business called "Fotosatz Austrup"
that offered the full range of prepress services. The adjacent
prepress and press operations have now been combined in a single
business.
The new Printmaster GTO 52-2 was delivered in mid-April 2008
and has printed over 1.5 million sheets in its first six months. It
replaced a Printmaster GTO 52 single-color press which was 15 years
old. The company was thus well aware of the benefits of the GTO 52
- praising "its print quality, its flexibility, and most of
all its simple operation" - and did not hesitate to invest in
another Printmaster GTO 52 press from Heidelberg.
"The new two-color press was ideal for our job structure
because we are getting more and more two-color jobs,"
explained Austrup.
What he really appreciates about the second generation of the
alcohol-free direct continuous dampening system (DDS II) compared
to the previous Printmaster GTO 52-1 is that it reacts "with
even greater stability in the production run, especially with
screen areas." The press is much easier to handle and operate,
reducing the amount of setup work and thus saving a great deal of
time. The adjustable delivery fans that help ensure the reliable
and "clean delivery of a wide range of printing
materials" are a further advantage.
As a result, the new Printmaster GTO 52-2 is able to complete
anything between one and ten print jobs a day, mostly with
two-color printing and printing stock in grammages between 60 grams
per square meter and 350 grams per square meter. Run lengths
ranging from 500 to 50,000 sheets are the norm.
"With the Printmaster GTO 52 from Heidelberg we are able
to react to customers' needs even faster and more flexibly,"
enthuses Austrup.
HaPaRo OHG produces business stationery for customers
including banks, the trade sector, and commercial institutions. The
print shop offers its customers a full service that includes
everything from plate mounting and production to certain postpress
operations (such as folding and creasing) and delivery of the
finished print products.
The small family business with a total of six staff members
operates a Heidelberg platen, a POLAR 55 cutter, and its new
Printmaster GTO 52-2. In the near future, the company is
considering investing in a cutter the next size up.
At the end of October, the business also received FSC (Forest
Stewardship Council) certification. This is a globally recognized
certification system with a seal identifying products from
responsible forestry management that complies with high social and
environmental standards.
