Speedmaster CX 102 - User Report: Print Shop Kern
Since IPEX 2010 in Birmingham, more than 30 presses have been
sold worldwide. The commercial print shop Kern in Bexbach was the
first user worldwide to purchase the Speedmaster CX 102 and more
than ever they are convinced that they have taken the right
decision.
"We have taken the right decision. Right from the start, we were enthusiastic about the Speedmaster CX 102 and the complete investment package is a great step forward on the road to becoming an industrial production print shop", managing director André Kern sums it up. The package consists of the Speedmaster CX 102, the Speedmaster SM 52 as well as of Prinect components for linking these components. "We were amazed about the considerable leap in quality with high grammages and coating applications", states André Kern. This is highly important for the company, because print shop Kern produces in Bexbach brochures, catalogs, and magazines for branded companies and industrial customers. The run lengths and grammages are very different, they print everything from onion skin paper up to 400 gram strong cardboard. The Speedmaster CX 102 keeps its promises not only when it comes to flexibility and quality - considerably shorter makeready times, cutting the number of waste sheets by 50 %, stable production speed in conjunction with a quiet and smooth sheet travel, an extremely high net output and a well thought-out ergonomics of the press have highly impressed the management and the printers.
Print shop Kern, the roots of which go back as far as into the 19th century, is now under the direction of the fourth family generation and employs 35 employees who generate a six million Euro turnover. The French branch in Saareguemines produces mainly large-format display stands, banners and posters in laser printing for sales promotion.
"No matter which road you take, it's getting better, even if you encounter strong headwind" - this motto underlines the corporate philosophy of print shop Kern. And what will be the road to the future? "Our plans for the future are to get increasingly involved in Web-to-Print and to extend our good experience we gathered with transparent production into the postpress area with the Prinect Postpress Manager", outlines André Kern. And even if there is headwind blowing on this road - thanks to the Speedmaster CX 102 and the solutions from Heidelberg headwind quickly turns to a good tailwind.
