Incorporating the print buyer into the production process Prinect Printready System, the first completely JDF-based prepress workflow, comprises the "Remote Access" option, which allows proofs to be agreed online between the customer and the print shop, thereby involving the customer directly in the production process. This is process optimization which saves both time and money in the long term.
Improved data access Prinect Printready System also integrates the Content Manager module, an archiving and asset management system. It allows structured access to all production-related data. This module is the first content management system in the world to be fully integrated into the production process. It ensures high production reliability and considerably reduces the time spent accessing data, since you no longer have to resort to external systems.
One prepress workflow, many output options The completely automated prepress workflow reduces the need for manual input to a minimum. This simplifies and speeds up all prepress tasks, so that jobs can now be planned much more efficiently from start to finish and their processing can be centrally monitored all the way. The output media which can be used include filmsetters and platesetters as well as the Quickmaster QM 46 DI and Speedmaster SM 74 DI direct imaging presses. Output is also possible on Digimaster and NexPress digital printing presses. So, once the data has been prepared, it can be flexibly output on the most appropriate device selected from a wide range of different media.
Reusing data Data generated in the prepress stage can be used again in downstream process steps. Prinect Prepress Interface is an important interface in the system, seamlessly linking the prepress, press and postpress stages. The color profile is automatically generated on the basis of the digital data from the prepress stage, and is then used in the Prinect CP2000 Center to preset the ink zones on the printing press. This improves process reliability and reduces make-ready times and waste. At the same time, a preview of the print sheet is generated for better identification of the job on the Prinect CP2000 Center. Prinect Prepress Interface transfers color reference values from the digital prepress stage and makes them available to Prinect Image Control for purposes of calculating a reference sheet. This makes it possible to quickly and accurately compare actual and target values. Automatic online color regulation, the use of repeat order data and stable color adjustment are used by color measurement systems from the outset to achieve the required printed results as fast and as cost effective as possible. They also contribute to increasing the productivity and reducing waste.
Data from Prinect Signa Station is also sent to the printing press in order to position Prinect Auto Register marks, while data required for the finishing process (e. g. folding and cutting marks) is transferred for regulating settings of cutters, folders and saddlestitchers. This ability to use data throughout the production workflow reduces throughput and make-ready times, thereby boosting your productivity and reducing material consumption.
Integration in every direction Prinect Production Solutions does not just link the prepress stage onwards into the pressroom; it also gives the pressroom access to the upstream prepress processes for the first time ever. This means that the printer operating the press is now able to launch the production of a printing plate. This can be particularly useful when one or more printing plates have to be reproduced and the prepress room is not staffed - for example during a night shift. With Prinect, situations like this need no longer cause press downtime and associated production delays.
